Make Caramel From Sweetened Condensed Milk In Your Slow Cooker

You won't believe how easy it is to make caramel from sweetened condensed milk. You'll get creamy, golden caramel without any of the additive, artificial flavors, or preservatives you find in store-bought caramel sauce.

Equipment

  • Mason Jar or Glass bowl with a lid to store caramel

Ingredients

  • 1 14 ounce can sweetened condensed mik

Instructions

  • Remove the label from the can of sweetened condensed milk.
  • Place the can into the slow cooker and add enough water to just cover the top of the can.
  • Place the lid on your slow cooker and set it to low for 8 hours.
  • After 8 hours, allow the can to sit in the slow cooker for 30 minutes before removing the lid.
  • After 30 minutes, remove the lid.
  • Use tongs to transfer the can to your refrigerator.
  • Allow it to cool for an hour.
  • Take the can out of the fridge, open it, and pour the caramel into a mason jar or a glass bowl with a lid.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

It will keep in your fridge for a month, but mine never makes it that long. I usually make a can at least once a week.
It will thicken as it cools in the fridge but it never gets hard or clumpy. It's always smooth and spreadable.
